Located on the shores of Norris Lake, Norris Dam State Park offers recreation on both land and water. Sitting on more than 4,000 acres there is plenty to enjoy, hiking, wildlife viewing, attending interpretive programs, and visiting the Lenoir Museum, Rice Gristmill, and Crosby Threshing Barn. Norris Lake is a beautiful lake for boating, skiing, and fishing. Located at the dam, Norris Dam Marina offers a fully equipped marina with boat ramp available to the general public.

The Lenoir Museum has a diverse collection of many artifacts which depict life in Southern Appalachia from 12,000 years ago to present day. The Rice Gristmill, originally constructed in 1798 in Union County, was dismantled and rebuilt on Clear Creek in 1935. The Caleb Crosby Threshing Barn displays old farm tools, plows and a horse drawn wagon.

The park has 19 rustic cabins and 10 deluxe cabins. All are located in quiet, wooded settings and are completely equipped with electrical appliances, cooking utensils and linens. The park also has two campgrounds, one located on each side of the park.  Each campsite has a table, grill and fire pit.  Both campgrounds have their unique charm.

Norris Dam State Park has two meeting rooms located on the west side of the park that can accommodate 10 to 75 people. The Tea Room and amphitheater  area, located on the east side, is also a very popular venue for weddings, reunions and receptions.  There are two picnic areas and two picnic shelters offering a peaceful setting for a picnic or birthday gathering.
